Night Lights And Your Baby
Some parents have questioned whether using a baby night light can harm a child’s eye. Others sing the praises of night lights as a calming influence over their babies during the night.
There are several different types of night lights that you can purchase for your children’s room:-
- If you do want to use a night light in your baby’s room, you’ll want to purchase one that has very low lightning, and place it in an area of the room that provides the lowest possible lighting for your baby’s room.
- Some baby monitors also include remote night lights.
- Some baby night lights even play music and can be set to project images on the wall or ceiling. Of course, you won’t want to use these features when baby is asleep!
- There are also auto-sensor night lights available. These automatically turn on as the room darkens, and they turn off as the room lightens.
- The latest model has those soothing changing coloured lights that sort of hypnotize your baby to sleep. See here for the latest design.
Babies who are younger than two and a half or so typically don’t suffer from night terrors or nightmares. Of course, once your little ones get a little older, he may begin to imagine all sorts of creepy, crawly things live in his closet or under his bed! If so, by all means use a night light if it makes them feel better and more secure.
However, talking about the importance of baby night lights, it is an important feature due to several reasons. One of the reasons is the safety of the tiny tot. Always keep in mind that you are not supposed to install very bright glaring lights in the baby room. It’s very harmful for the eyesight of the baby and as such applies to both normal daytime light as well as nightlights for the nursery.
At the same time, remember that night light in a baby nursery should also not be so dim that a baby feels frightened or you are unable to locate them. There is also a possibility that bad or very dim nightlights in baby room may cause you to trip over a toy or any other object lying around and hurt yourself in the process.
When choosing the night light, make sure there are no rough or sharp edges on the night lamp to prevent any untoward incident. Night lights for the baby nursery should always be lead-free and non-toxic. Some latest models are even voice sensitive and light up on their own as soon as the baby begins to weep.
So what type of night lights is best for your baby’s room?
